Maison natale Charles de Gaulle in Lille

Your stay at the Hotel Morphée will be an opportunity to visit the Maison natale Charles de Gaulle as soon as it reopens.

A place of remembrance in homage to Charles de Gaulle

One of France's greatest statesmen, Charles de Gaulle was born in Lille on 22 November 1890 and was baptised in the nearby church of Saint-André.
His birth and childhood home, located at 9 rue Princesse in Lille, is listed as a Historic Monument. The house has been restored and turned into a museum.

A unique heritage to be safeguarded

A project to restore the Maison natale is underway in 2020. Initially scheduled for the end of November, the long-awaited reopening of the Maison natale Charles de Gaulle has been postponed due to the health situation.

General de Gaulle's childhood memories

As soon as it reopens, we invite you to visit the house to see a collection of family souvenirs and other personal objects, including Charles de Gaulle's cradle, his baptismal gown and a Saint-Cyr sword from his youth. Also, a multimedia area offers a historical overview of Charles de Gaulle's life and achievements.
