The Museum of Archaeology
Installed in the former pawn shop, this museum abounds in an extraordinary regional collection dating from prehistory to the Middle Ages.
Among the recent excavations, the museum exhibits real discoveries such as the Gallo-Roman necropolis of the Rue Perdue in Tournai which offers a lead sarcophagus, the Merovingian cemeteries where one can discover the tomb of the "Saxon Princess". All these wonders of history are classified as "Treasures of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation".
The Museum of Fine Arts of Tournai
Brussels philanthropist Henri Van Cutsem took part in the development of the museum's art collection.
The Flemish art like Bruegel or Campin, the great names of 17th and 18th century paintings like Rubens or Watteau, the impressionist masters like Manet, Monet, Seurat, Van Gogh are there. Classics accompanied by Belgian artists like Ensor, Claus, de Braekeleer and local artists like Gallait, Pion or Dumoulin.
