During the creation and extension of the new town of Villeneuve d'Ascq in the 1970s, archaeological excavations revealed traces of prehistoric and Gaulish occupations.
Different Gallic and Roman houses were built with the techniques and materials of the time, which not only gives a super work striking realism. Let your mustache and hair grow and you will believe it!
Do not miss the Upper Paleolithic tent with its circular or oval shape. It resembles a hut and can be interpreted as a tepee. What about the Neolithic period house, the Bronze Age and Iron Age house, the Gallo-Roman villa, the medieval building, which mark the beginning of a certain evolution.
The visit of the park can be done with family or friends. It allows to discover or rediscover the history in a playful and intelligent way, near the parks or you can have very nice walks.
The park can be visited freely with an explanatory booklet. The guided tour seems to be the ideal as it can make the archeology alive, with an interaction with the guides.
