The citadel of Lille and its park
This 17th century military structure was designed by order of Louis XIV to defend the city.Vauban, the designer of this building, called it "the queen of the citadels".
Its monumental construction is remarkable for its dimensions and the quality of its well-preserved architecture. Classified as a historic monument in its entirety since 2012, this citadel has the particularity of being the matrix of most of the other citadels designed by Vauban.
The Citadel Park
